State of Colorado Goal Area: Professional and Workforce Development

Local Goal:

Engage community partners who work with young children in a sequential system of integrated and formalized ongoing professional and workforce development.

Local Systems Outcomes:

· Community partners who work with young children are on an ongoing professional development continuum that ensures continuous learning.

· Community partners who work with young children demonstrate the skills needed to provide quality care and education, health, mental health, and family support services to children and families.

· Community partners who work with young children have access to training opportunities and increase their knowledge and skills.

Focus Area: Early Childhood Care and Education

Objectives:

· Support access & availability to college course work for EC professionals.

· Offer community based training based on provider requests, Qualistar ratings, licensing regulations, and professional development action team recommendations to support ECCE providers.

· Inform and promote the EC Professional Credential.

· Increase Leadership Capacity.

Focus Area: Health

Objectives:

· Community Partners who work with young children demonstrate the skills needed to provide quality health services to children and families.

· EC professionals are aware of health care services available in montezuma and Dolores counties.

Focus Area: Mental Health

Objectives:

· Community partners who work with young children demonstrate the skills needed to provide quality mental health and family support services to children and families.

· Include mental health services in Community Resource Directory.

Focus Area: Family Support and Parent Education

Objectives:

· Increase public awareness of issues and challenges of the Early Childhood system.

· Promote and help coordinate Parenting Classes and other parent education offered in both counties.

· Develop and facilitate 3 part Family Forums in each county.
